10 years for the Cypriot-Russian Festival

The opening ceremony of the 10th Cypriot-Russian Festival took place once again this year at the Limassol Municipal Gardens on the weekend of June 6 and 7.

The President of the Cypriot-Russian Festival, Natalia Kardash welcomed the President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades along with his wife Andri Anastasiades and offered them bread and salt following Russia’s tradition on hosting guests.

During his speech, the President expressed his satisfaction and gratitude to the number of Russian businessmen and investors who continue to support Cyprus, in a difficult period, as stated, on the country. He also stressed that the Cypriot-Russian Festival has been attracting thousands of people for a decade and has established itself as one of the biggest cultural events in the country's cultural calendar.

The Ambassador of Russia in Cyprus Stanislav Osadchiy thanked the organisers for organizing the 10th Cypriot-Russian Festival and mentioned that Cypriot-Russian relations will be further strengthened in 2015 which is proven by the two visits of the President to Moscow and the concluding strategic agreements.

Mayor of Limassol, Andreas Christou stressed the importance attributed by the Limassol Municipality in this year's 10th consecutive edition of the Festival while taking into account, the large number of our fellow citizens, who are either of Russian origin or speak the Russian language and visit the Cypriot-Russian Festival.

The president of the Cypriot-Russian Festival, Natalia Kardash, said, “Vestnik Kipra newspaper celebrates 20 years this year. The Vestnik Kipra organises dozens of events during the year. But the Cypriot-Russian Festival remains our most important event. Our main objective is to bring together the Cypriot and Russian community in Cyprus. The Cypriot-Russian Festival is not only an event for the Russians and Cypriots. Dozens of other nationalities take part in different activities during the Festival."

Ambassadors of other countries, mayors, members of the Cyprus Parliament, and other officials honoured with their presence the official opening ceremony of the Festival.
