President Nikos Christodoulides' upcoming trip to New York for the annual UN General Assembly will include a stopover in Toronto, Canada, and with the objective and purpose of promoting Cyprus as an investment destination.
Christodoulides departs from Cyprus today, Thursday, and as InBusinessNews has been informed, on Friday, 19 September, he will be in Toronto, where he will participate in two separate, prominent events with business entities, funds and stakeholders from Canada - and beyond. This development contributes to the government's broader multi-level efforts and policies to attract foreign companies to the island and further promote and establish Cyprus as a reliable investment destination.
The President of the Republic, during his presence in Canada and the contacts he will have there, is expected to clearly outline the attractive business environment that Cyprus has, the impressive performance of the country's economy and the actions that the government is taking to restore the name and reputation of our island internationally, emphasising in this regard the advantages of Cyprus as an international business centre and the benefits that arise for companies and organisations that choose it to establish their base or to operate here.
The events Christodoulides will participate in
According to the programme of the visit, in Canada, Nikos Christodoulides will participate in an event organised by members of the Cypriot communities of Toronto on Thursday evening.
On Friday, he will meet with Prem Watsa, the founder, Chairman and CEO of Fairfax (a major shareholder of Eurobank). This will be followed at noon on Friday by a roundtable discussion with leading entrepreneurs and investors active in the financial sector, research, innovation and real estate development.
On Friday evening, President Christodoulides will participate in a roundtable discussion and a working dinner co-organized by the France Canada Chamber of Commerce (FCCCO), with the participation of senior executives of major member companies of the French-Canadian Chamber of Commerce, as well as client companies of the event's co-organiser, who already have a presence in Cyprus.
More specifically, and according to InBusinessNews sources, Nikos Christodoulides has accepted an invitation and will be present at noon on 19 September at a global investor gathering in Toronto that will take place in the form of a roundtable discussion.
During his presence and contacts in Canada, Nikos Christodoulides will be accompanied by ministers, deputy ministers and other government officials, as well as by the leadership of Invest Cyprus.
It is noted that in April, Christodoulides spent a week in various US states, where, having meetings with important companies in their field, mainly technology, he achieved extremely important agreements towards strengthening the business ecosystem of Cyprus.
