Martin Olivier has taken on the position of CEO of Atterbury Europe from 1 November, 2026, succeeding the CEO for 12 years, Henk Deist.
According to Atterbury Europe’s announcement regarding the planned succession, Martin Olivier, currently CFO, took on the role of CEO from 1 November 2026. After twelve years, Henk Deist has handed over the baton to Martin Olivier and taken on the role of Commercial Director, while retaining his position on the Board of Directors.
As stated in the announcement, this change reflects the remarkable human resources that Atterbury Europe has. It is noted that Martin Olivier and Henk Deist have been working together since the company's founding, while the succession process has been carefully planned, with a focus on ensuring continuity for the company's shareholders, partners and executives.
The contribution of Henk Deist, CEO for 12 years, and the new duties
As one of the founders of Atterbury Europe, Henk Deist played a key role in shaping the business. He guided the group through complex structural changes and changing market conditions, helping to develop the company into a resilient and reliable business organisation. The Board of Directors and shareholders expressed their sincere thanks to Deist for his exceptional leadership, vision and dedication.
Malose Kekana, CEO of Pareto Group and member of the Board of Directors of Atterbury Europe, said, “On behalf of the Board of Directors and shareholders, I would like to thank Henk Deist for the vision, judgment and commitment he has shown in helping to develop Atterbury Europe into its current form. The value of this achievement is demonstrated by the fact that his successor, Martin Olivier, is a high-caliber executive who comes from within the Atterbury Europe team. We welcome Henk Deist’s continued presence in the company as Commercial Director, while the Board of Directors expresses its full confidence in Martin Olivier, considering him the right person to lead Atterbury Europe into the next chapter of its development.”
In his new position, Henk Deist will oversee the group's strategic business development activities, ensuring continuity in many of the company's most important priorities.
Furthermore, Martin Olivier (CPA) has been a member of Atterbury Europe since its inception. He has been involved in all of the group’s acquisitions and strategic transactions, as well as in the operational area, which gives him a comprehensive view of the entire value chain of the business. This deep knowledge of strategy, operations and investment activity makes him well-suited to lead Atterbury Europe into its next phase.
"I feel proud of what we have achieved"
On his part, the outgoing CEO of Atterbury Europe, Henk Deist, stated, “It has been a huge privilege to lead Atterbury Europe since its inception, over the past twelve years. I feel extremely proud of what we have achieved together and deeply grateful to our shareholders, board, colleagues, investors and business partners for their trust and support. I look forward to continuing to contribute to the business from my new role and to supporting Martin as he leads Atterbury Europe into the future.”
"We are looking for new opportunities"
“I am delighted to be appointed CEO of Atterbury Europe,” said new CEO of Atterbury Europe, Martin Olivier. “I look forward to working with our talented team, shareholders and partners as we execute our strategy, pursue new opportunities and create sustainable, long-term value for our investors and stakeholders,” he added.
Succession during a period of intense activity
The succession comes at a time of intense business activity for the group. Construction work on the Rivus project in Cluj-Napoca is underway, while the group's shopping centers in the three markets (i.e. Cyprus, Serbia, Romania) where it operates continue to consolidate their position in the local communities they serve.
"Atterbury Europe's strategy, partnerships and business approach remain unchanged. The group's long-standing relationships with its shareholders, joint venture partners, as well as its close-knit team, provide a solid foundation for a smooth transition to leadership and set the stage for the continued success of the business," the company's announcement concluded.
