Amid rapid geopolitical developments and technological changes, the constant challenge is how to keep products and services relevant to customers, Vice President, Head of Central & Southern Europe, Iron Mountain has emphasised.
Speaking in the context of INSPIRE 2025, she pointed out the importance of finding opportunities through risks, but also of keeping up with the constant and rapid changes and developments.
With a degree in anthropology, her academic background did not foreshadow a career in the technology sector, although her love of gaming gave her a first exposure to the subject.
"I didn't choose between career and family"
Upon her return to Cyprus, Andrea Antoniou was employed at a small company, Fileminders, taking over the customer service department, while her first encounter with the technology sector came at this company, when customers were given the opportunity to place electronic orders. Gradually, the company grew and her role in the company grew with it, taking on the duties of operations manager and later CEO.
In 2017, Fileminders was acquired by Iron Mountain, the global leader in the information management industry, giving it the opportunity to gain a regional role and expand into countries such as Greece, Romania and Bulgaria.
However, a professional career can very well be combined with motherhood. “During the two big promotions of my life, I was seven months pregnant and that’s when I realised that I could combine both, that is, career and family, without having to choose between the two,” Antoniou noted, among other things.
Open doors and collaboration with smart people
At the same time, she stressed that she does not believe in hierarchy, but in contact with all employees. "I am one for hierarchy, I want contact and information from everyone, I keep doors open and I enjoy working with smart people, smarter than me," she said.
The advice of the Vice President, Head of Central & Southern Europe, Iron Mountain to a new entrepreneur is not to regret his time and to put in the effort, explaining that at first it may not be good and it may require several hours of toil and work, however, entrepreneurship is a game, which has, among other things, pleasure.
