The Landmark Nicosia has opened its doors, welcoming guests and reintroducing itself to the capital city with fresh energy.
We were invited to a media breakfast on 2 December to explore the newly reopened hotel, and here’s what we experienced.
Built on the site of a well-remembered and historic hotel, The Landmark Nicosia has risen into the capital city's consiousness with a fresh, cosmopolitan pulse. We stepped in on a rainy Nicosia morning, and were greeted with a sight of a grand Christmas tree in the lobby- drenched in deep red - and standing against pale stone and soft neutrals.
Walking toward The Orangery Restaurant, we passed through the hotel’s Grand Room: complete with pockets for reading and private conversations and corners designed to invite lingering. Entering The Orangery feels like an echo of old days, it has certainly been reborn for a new chapter, yet is still faithful to its role as a social and business hearth for the city.
Inside The Orangery, the palette turns to comfort: honeyed woods, muted greens, low music threading the air as breakfast aromas follow close behind. You settle into a cosy kind of wakefulness, aware of the subtle luxury around you. Stations offer a spread of sweet and savoury, complete with the small theatre of live cooking alongside them. We succumb to an delicious omelette and an apple pie that tastes like a small, perfect indulgence.
From the restaurant, back through the hotel, the spaces unfold: a bar overlooking the Grand Room, intimate nooks that invite a pause, and then the hotel’s gallery. We’re told that Artion Galleries will be woven into the Landmark experience - works by artists such as Hiro Ando, Danilo Martinis, Giorgos Polymeros, and Costas Tsoklis now decorate the space.
Further on, a memory wall draws you in: photographs of diplomats, politicians, and artists, the hotel’s long procession of visitors. They remind you that this hotel has been a witness to the country's history, and a landmark in the truest sense.
Down toward the wellness wing, another Christmas Tree appears - this one framed by crisp white balconies above and the preserved charm of a vintage elevator, its old-world brass flashing against clean contemporary lines.
Nearby is the gym, a modern space with top-tier equipment, and the spa which offers a calm, unhurried setting for relaxation. An indoor pool completes the scene - a still, blue refuge.
It’s clear that the Landmark Nicosia is becoming what it has always been at heart: a rendezvous point for the city’s life - only now with a newly tuned aesthetic, moving smoothly between heritage warmth and contemporary clarity.
