Larnaca district, namely the town of Aradippou is set to welcome a technical school for green jobs, a project that will boost the vocational training of young people in cutting-edge sectors of sustainable development, an announcement by Directorate of General Growth of the Ministry of Finance says.

The project, with a total budget of €39 million, is being implemented within the framework of “THALEIA2021-2027” Cohesion Policy Programme, with co-financing from the European Union and the state budget.

The construction works are set to be completed in early 2028. The project includes modern facilities, equipped with laboratories and theoretical and practical training rooms, to support job specialties with high technological requirements.

In addition, MOF says that the technical school is expected to raise awareness among the wider school community about climate change and its impacts on people’s daily lives and professional activities.

The school is also expected to significantly complement the needs that currently exist in secondary technical education in Cyprus, offering the opportunity for young people to be trained in cutting-edge sectors, contributing to increasing employment, strengthening relevant skills in the labor market and, more generally, strengthening green entrepreneurship and the local economy.

The school will offer programmess such as Fuel Gas Technician - Natural Gas, Electric Vehicle Engineer, Green Plumber, Renewable Energy Sources Technologist, energy saving electrician, Geoinformatics Surveyor Technologist, Green Building Construction Technician and Horticulture and Garden Design.
