DIGICOM LTD: We protect your computers –We protect your business!

Intending to enter the computer business, Christos J. Papakyriacou, Managing Director of Digicom Ltd, returned to Cyprus in 1982, having completed his studies in Electronics at UCL in the UK and CDC in the US.

It was a time when computerization was starting to take off. Everybody was selling either computer software or hardware. Unfortunately, many installed systems did not work properly. They kept crashing and buyers were blaming the hardware or the software suppliers or both and no-one seemed to have a solution to their problems.
That was when Mr. Papakyriacou suspected that, based on his experience in the United States, the problem was with the electricity supply.
He knew he could help. However, he was a newcomer and it was difficult for him to gain the attention of the busy computer and software companies. He had a solution but nobody was going to listen to a newbie.
So, short-funded as he was, he decided to invest in a machine called Power Analyzer. It was very similar to a cardiogram but for electricity, recording on a strip of paper with time lines, the various problems with the electricity supply, such as power cuts, fluctuations, surges, electrical noise and other interference.
Correlating the actual time of problems with the disturbances recorded on the timed paper over a 48-hour period, he offered a written report of his findings and suggestions. Mr. Papakyriacou charged £50 for what he called his “Mains Check Service”.
He also offered equipment to solve the problem: Voltage Regulators, Line Filters or the “Ultimate” Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), were recommended, depending on the problem. UPS were quite expensive at the time.
The problems were solved every time. Sales took off; Digicom Ltd grew and became known for its Solutions to Computer Electricity Supply Problems.
“Technical support was a key factor in our continued long-term success”, Mr. Papakyriacou notes. “With one of the best-trained and most experienced service teams on Uninterruptible Power Supplies in Cyprus, Digicom Ltd also earned the trust and respect of our customers”.

• Efficiency is preserved even at loads as low as 10%
• Power losses, CO2 and energy costs are up to 30% less compared to similar products
• True modularity and scalability from 50 to 250kw N+1 in a cabinet with small footprint
• 6 x 250kw frames can be paralleled for expansion up to 1500kw
• Service can be performed in under 10 minutes, without downtime
• Even your own personnel can safely add or replace modules
• Modules are standardized to keep costs down, for easy deployment, for better quality and reduction of intervention time.

Advantage
The uniqueness of the ABB DPA 250 S4 Modular UPS lies in its proprietary Decentralized Parallel Architecture (DPATM) as well as its transformer-free IGBT converters. This enables market-leading efficiencies of up to 97.6% per UPS module. The DPA 250 can also utilize newer lithium-ion technology batteries, which results in further saving of precious floor space.
Unlike some competitors, every UPS module is practically its own UPS. Each has all the software and hardware for autonomous operation. A module’s output is not affected by failures elsewhere in the UPS. Every module includes the Controls, Rectifier, Inverter, Manual AND Static Bypass Switch, as well as the capability of a separate battery bank.
The DPA offers the best reliability for environmentally conscious organizations that also need zero downtime and low cost of ownership. Take the first step today! Call DIGICOM LTD on 22-765432 to discuss your Data Centre or other mission-critical application requirements.
